20 Miles today
October 1, 2006 by jon.
Well, I did it today. Ran 20 miles at one time. I had to run today because of the scout campout yesterday and it was a good day for it. Started at 42 degrees and got into the upper 60’s. Of course I wore a long sleeve shirt so by the end I was kind of warm.
The run itself was good for the most part. I didn’t feel as strong as last week when I ran the 16 but it wasn’t bad. My last few miles I walked a liitle more than I wanted but the big thing is that I finished. You can see the stats that I uploaded from my GPS to Motionbased at the below site:

Now the taper begins. Next week is a 12 mile run and the following week is only 6 or 8. I’m a little nervous about going the extra 6 above what I did today. I am now pretty confident with 18 and even 20 miles maybe but adding 6 more might be hard. Hopefully my taper will help me regain some energy and then the adreneline from the race itself will pull me through. It should also help that I’m planning on runnig the race with a friend from church. (The last few long runs have been solo)
So pray for me that I can do a good taper and get ready for the race. I’m in the home stretch now!
30 miles this week and 522 miles for the year. First time running more than 500 miles. ![]()
