Puritan prayer of Paradoxes

Lately God has been showing me how much of life involves paradoxes. Today we received the prayer below - I really enjoyed it and wanted to share it with you. God has been shown me that what he desires most of me is truth and brokenness…so that He can begin to do the work that He needs to in my life. Praying that I have a willing and steadfast spirit to allow brokenness to be a part of my daily walk with Him.
Lord, high and holy, meek and lowly, thou hast brought me to the valley of vision, where I live in the depths but see thee in the heights; Hemmed in by mountains of sin I behold thy glory.
LET ME LEARN by paradox…
that the way down is the way up, that to be low is to be high, that the broken heart is the healed heart, that the contrite spirit is the rejoicing spirit, that the repenting soul is the victorious soul, that to have nothing is to possess all, that to bear the cross is to wear the crown, that to give is to receive, that the valley is the place of vision.
Lord, in the daytime stars can be seen from the deepest wells, and the deeper the wells the brighter the stars shine; LET ME FIND thy light in my darkness, thy life in my death, thy joy in my sorrow, thy grace in my sin, thy riches in my poverty, thy glory in my valley.

AMEN

Have a blessed day!

Things Looking Up

Take a look at this recent article in the Wall Street Journal.  You won’t necessarily see it in all papers, but it is giving a positive outlook on the progress of the Surge in Iraq.  I know I don’t normally post much about politics, but this one needs to be talked about.

Appliance Repairs made easy!

Our Dryer had kicked the bucket…or so we thought.  It was making on messy noise on start up and squeeked for quite some time.  After doing some internet searching, we found the Fixitnow.com site.  Lot’s of good repair information if you ever need it.

So does our dryer still squeek?  Actually yes, we need to lubricate the motor.  But now we know we can take it apart in 10 minutes thanks to this website.

 Check it out.

The Lutheran Logomaniac

Can’t believe I haven’t added Todd’s blog yet to my links.  Rev. Todd Pepperkorn is Kala’s cousin and a pastor in Kenosha Wisconsin.  He has been blogging a lot longer than I have and I thought I had already included his link.

Sorry Todd.

BTW - Anyone else I missed?  If you regularly read Coffee and Bagels and want me to add your blog to my links, please let me know.  Jon

National Phenological Network

Not quite watching grass grow, but close.  ;-)

Actually, the Phenological Network tracks when plants bloom and other Phenological event across the country.  Like CoCoRaHS, they have volunteers who input data into a web site.  If watching plants is more your thing as opposed to weather, you might want to check this out.
